A view from the Trust

Eyecare Trust - A View from the Trust

The Trust reported on another successful year at its recent Annual General Meeting held at Gloucester Terrace, London W2 6LD on 22 April.

Once again the charity demonstrated its ability to deliver high impact public information campaigns on a low budget – more than 250 million opportunities to see and hear positive eyecare messages were generated in the media alone during the reporting period (01 October 2007 – 30 September 2008). Whilst our newly revamped website, public information line and practitioner resources (leaflets, fact sheets etc) continued to provide the public with accessible advice and information on a wide-range of eyecare and eyewear topics.

Get on board and help raise optics up the public’s health agenda

Eyecare Trust - Join the Board

The Trust is currently welcoming applications to join its Board of Trustees.

The nine-strong board is jointly responsible for governing and setting the strategic direction for the charity, which exists to raise awareness of all aspects of ocular health and the importance of regular eyecare.

We’re looking for people who can help direct the charity towards delivering a higher public profile for optics and achieving a substantial shift people’s attitudes and behaviour towards caring for their eyes – 20 million Brits are currently putting themselves at increased risk of avoidable sight loss because they fail to have regular sight tests.

It has never been more important for the public to be kept well informed about the importance of good eyecare; the choices, services and entitlements that are available to them and, the benefits of entrusting their eye health to registered professionals. So, if you have a passion for promoting positive eyecare this could be just the role for you.
